Aura Names Chief Product and AI Officers to Scale Threat Detection Platform
Aura, an online safety company, appointed Adam Medros as Chief Product Officer and Viksit Gaur as Chief AI Officer on May 6. The hires signal the company's focus on building what it calls an "agentic intelligence layer" - AI that monitors activity across a user's devices and networks to detect threats and behavioral changes.
The appointments address a structural problem in cybersecurity. Work, school, and personal digital networks no longer exist in separate silos. Users move between devices and environments constantly, but security tools remain fragmented by industry and location. Threats exploit the gaps at these borders.
Gaur will oversee expansion of Aura's Intelligence platform to analyze patterns in online activity for signs of safety threats and behavioral shifts. He previously led Applied AI at Dropbox and founded Myra Labs, an enterprise AI automation platform. He holds a master's degree in computer science from Yale, where he researched machine learning for robotics.
Medros will lead global product strategy, design, and user experience. His background spans travel, education, and subscription businesses. He was CEO of Spark Networks, COO at Embark Veterinary, and president and co-CEO of edX before its $800 million sale to 2U. He spent 13 years at TripAdvisor as senior vice president of global product.
The two roles reflect how Aura structures itself as an AI-centric platform. Medros will integrate AI features developed by Gaur's team and identify new channels - consumer, employer, enterprise, and school - to distribute protections. Gaur reports to Chief Technology Officer Rekha Singh. Medros reports to CEO Hari Ravichandran.
For product leaders, these appointments highlight how companies are organizing around AI capabilities. Rather than treating AI as a feature added to existing products, Aura is building product and AI leadership as parallel functions that integrate at the platform level.
