Aura Appoints Chief Product and AI Officers to Build Cross-Device Threat Detection

Aura, an online safety platform, announced two executive appointments on May 6: Adam Medros as Chief Product Officer and Viksit Gaur as Chief AI Officer. The hires signal the company's focus on building AI systems that monitor threats across a user's devices and networks - at home, work, and school.

Current cybersecurity tools operate in silos. A threat detection system at work doesn't communicate with home security. A school network runs separately from personal devices. Aura's strategy is to break down those boundaries by layering AI across a user's entire digital footprint to identify threats more accurately.

The Product Strategy Shift

Medros brings 13 years at TripAdvisor as Senior Vice President of Global Product, where he scaled the platform to hundreds of millions of users. He also led product at edX and served as CEO of Spark Networks, an online dating company, where he rebuilt legacy brands and grew engagement.

As CPO, Medros will integrate AI-powered features into Aura's product and identify new distribution channels - consumer, employer, enterprise, and school markets. He reports to CEO Hari Ravichandran.

The AI Layer

Gaur previously led Applied AI and Dropbox Labs at Dropbox, where he embedded machine learning into core product features. He also founded Myra Labs, an enterprise AI automation platform. He holds a master's degree in Computer Science from Yale, where he researched machine learning for robotics.

At Aura, Gaur will oversee the Aura Intelligence platform, which continuously analyzes online activity patterns to flag potential threats and behavioral shifts that may signal changes to wellbeing. He reports to CTO Rekha Singh.

Why This Matters for Product Teams

The appointments reflect a shift in how security products are built. Rather than point solutions for single devices, Aura is moving toward agent-based systems that reason across fragmented data sources.

For product leaders, this illustrates a practical challenge: integrating machine learning into consumer-facing features requires both AI expertise and product discipline. Gaur's background building ML-driven products at scale complements Medros's track record shipping features to millions of users.
