Banyan Technology Adds AI Agents to Automate Freight Tracking and Exception Management
Banyan Technology released three AI Agents built into its LIVE Connect platform designed to reduce manual work for third-party logistics providers and shippers. The agents handle tracking updates, missed pickups and deliveries, and missing documentation-tasks that typically require phone calls and manual data entry.
The move addresses a core operational problem: critical shipment information often lives outside the systems teams use to make decisions. When updates arrive via email, text, or driver calls, they create visibility gaps and slow response times.
What the Agents Do
- Tracking Updates Agent: Contacts drivers or carriers for current location and delivery status, then records updates automatically in LIVE Connect.
- Missed Pickup/Delivery Agent: Identifies shipments that have missed estimated timelines and initiates outreach to obtain updated timing and status.
- Missing Documents Agent: Requests missing proofs of delivery or bills of lading from carriers and records how documents will be sent.
Brian Smith, CEO of Banyan Technology, said the agents reduce costs by bringing "greater speed, consistency and intelligence to everyday operations." The platform captures verified updates directly into the system where logistics teams already work.
For operations managers, the practical benefit is straightforward: fewer manual carrier calls, faster exception resolution, and less time spent tracking down documentation. The agents work continuously, flagging issues and gathering information without waiting for team members to notice problems.
