Boomi ranked first among 24 application integration software providers in ISG Software Research's 2026 buyers guide, earning the top spot as enterprises look for platforms that can connect business applications, manage data, and govern autonomous AI agents. ISG classified Boomi in its highest category, "Exemplary," and identified it as the only evaluated provider designated a leader across every assessment category.
The company received the highest overall ranking and placed first in both capability and product experience. It also earned leadership designations for its platform and customer experience. Boomi recorded its highest individual score in customer experience, reflecting its product roadmap, onboarding, and customer relationships, according to the assessment.
What ISG evaluated
ISG assessed software providers based on their products and the experience customers have working with them. The research firm cited Boomi's integration capabilities, API management, and AI offerings, along with its customer support, onboarding processes, and product development plans.
ISG also flagged Boomi's expansion into AI-driven integration development, agent management, and governance as factors that differentiate the company from competitors. That focus aligns with where the market is heading: agentic AI systems that can take actions or complete business processes with varying degrees of autonomy, which increases the importance of coordinating applications, data, and operational controls.
"As organizations move from experimenting with agentic AI to operationalizing it, they need integration, automation and agent governance working together on one foundation," said Boomi Chief Product and Technology Officer Ed Macosky.
"Orchestrating communication and integration among applications, data, systems, tools and processes is essential to enabling agents to execute business processes through autonomous actions," said ISG Research Director Matt Aslett.
The competitive picture
The ranking puts Boomi ahead of 23 other application integration providers in ISG's evaluation. For product development teams, the practical question isn't just which vendor scores highest - it's what the assessment says about how integration platforms are evolving.
ISG's emphasis on agent management and governance signals that integration software is no longer just about moving data between systems. It's increasingly about controlling what autonomous agents can do across those systems. That shift touches how development teams design workflows, set permissions, and test agent behavior before deployment.
For teams building products that depend on AI for Product Development, the takeaway is that integration platforms are becoming a control layer for agentic systems. Development workflows now need to account for agent governance alongside traditional integration logic. Teams evaluating vendors should look beyond basic connectivity features and examine how each platform handles agent orchestration, monitoring, and policy enforcement.
Boomi's top ranking in customer experience also suggests that onboarding and vendor support factored heavily into the assessment. For development teams, that's a reminder that implementation speed and day-to-day support can matter as much as raw platform capability when choosing an integration provider. Teams getting started with AI Agents & Automation will need platforms that can grow with their agent deployments - and vendors that can help them get there.
Why this matters for product development
Product development teams are being asked to ship software that works with agentic AI, not just traditional APIs and data flows. ISG's assessment suggests that integration platforms are now being judged on how well they support that shift - specifically around agent governance, AI-driven development, and the ability to orchestrate autonomous actions across systems.
For teams evaluating tools, the practical takeaway is to test how any integration platform handles agent management before committing. Ask how the platform governs agent permissions, how it monitors agent actions, and whether its AI features actually reduce development work or just add another layer to manage. The vendor that ranks first in one buyers guide may not be the right fit for every team, but the evaluation criteria ISG used - capability, product experience, and customer experience - are a solid starting point for building your own vendor scorecard.
