EU Publishes First Harmonised Technical Standard Under AI Act
The EU published its first AI Act standard, giving high-risk AI providers a voluntary way to prove their documentation and quality systems meet the rules.

The European Commission has published the first harmonised technical standard under the AI Act. The standard creates a voluntary pathway for providers of high-risk AI systems to demonstrate that their documentation and quality-management practices meet regulatory requirements.
For organizations building governance programs, the publication provides a more concrete benchmark against which internal controls can be aligned. The standard translates broad obligations into a specific reference point that compliance, legal, and risk management teams can apply directly to their review processes.
Providers now have an optional mechanism to show conformity with the Act’s documentation and quality-management provisions, reducing uncertainty for teams responsible for AI governance across regulated sectors.
