Gravity Rail Launches AI Platform for Patient Engagement, Raises $2.75 Million

Gravity Rail announced its public launch today with $2.75 million in seed funding led by Redesign Health. The startup has built a platform that lets healthcare organizations design and manage AI-powered patient engagement workflows without writing code or depending on external vendors.

The platform operates across phone, SMS, email, web, and messaging channels. Care teams use natural language to translate operating procedures into live workflows-automating call center interactions, patient onboarding, medication adherence tracking, and referral outreach.

What the platform does

Gravity Rail positions itself as a model-agnostic operating system. Rather than locking organizations into a single vendor's workflow, it hands control to the clinical operations teams who use it daily. When protocols change, patient rules shift, or better AI models emerge, teams can update workflows themselves instead of waiting for vendor coordination.

Co-founder and CEO Scott Hoch said the problem is structural: "Most AI in healthcare today is modern technology wrapped in yesterday's business model. A vendor builds a workflow, hands it over, and within weeks the team is working around it."

The platform uses a human-plus-AI model where automation handles repetitive, high-volume tasks while staff oversee complex decisions. It includes compliance features like structured certification, escalation rules, and full auditability. Gravity Rail operates under HIPAA-compliant agreements with zero data retention.

Early results

The platform has been in production for about a year with multiple healthcare organizations using it. Early deployments show measurable improvements: organizations report connecting with patients two to three times more frequently while reducing call handle times and increasing satisfaction.

One referral workflow showed a 30% increase in first scheduled appointment rates compared to manual processes. Leapcure used the platform to engage approximately 30,000 patients while keeping operational burden flat. Harmonic Health improved referral management and patient follow-up efficiency.

Christopher Young, COO at Harmonic Health, said: "We reached a point where referrals were coming in faster than our team could manage. We introduced AI in a focused, controlled way to follow up, and saw a meaningful lift in first appointment rates."

The market problem

Administrative costs in healthcare exceed $1 trillion annually. Communication gaps lead to missed appointments, delayed treatment, and care delivery inefficiencies. Gravity Rail targets health plans, provider groups, contact centers, digital health companies, and clinical trial platforms.

Neil Patel, Head of Ventures at Redesign Health, said the constraint on AI adoption in healthcare isn't the technology itself: "The constraint on AI adoption in healthcare isn't the models-it's that clinical operations teams have no way to own, test, and evolve AI workflows on their terms. Gravity Rail is the first platform we've seen that solves that problem directly."

The company plans to expand adoption and build an ecosystem of AI-driven workflows that operate at scale while maintaining governance and compliance.
