Haleon and Microsoft expand AI partnership across consumer health operations

Haleon has signed a five-year partnership with Microsoft to embed artificial intelligence across its consumer health operations, from product development and clinical research to supply chain management and marketing. The London-based company, whose brands include Sensodyne, Panadol, Advil, and Centrum, sells products in 170 markets and reaches 1.4 billion consumers worldwide.

Scaling AI across the organisation

The agreement expands on Haleon's existing deployment of Microsoft 365 Copilot, which employees already use to automate administrative tasks. The two companies plan to build AI applications for consumer insights, product innovation, and commercial operations, extending Haleon's current use of Microsoft's cloud infrastructure. The move reflects a wider pattern of AI for Healthcare adoption as consumer health firms look to speed up decision-making and trim operational costs.

Claire Dickson, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Haleon, said the partnership advances how the company applies technology to its business model. "This collaboration marks a major step forward in how we use digital, data and AI to deliver our global strategy - driving growth, improving productivity and building a more agile, performance-focused culture," she said.

From research to marketing

Haleon intends to use the AI systems to accelerate scientific research and clinical content development, producing health information for consumers more quickly. The tools will also support marketing teams through personalised content creation and inform decisions across the organisation using data analysis. Professionals looking to build skills in these tools can explore Microsoft AI Courses that cover the cloud and AI services underpinning such deployments.

Dickson added that combining Microsoft's infrastructure with Haleon's consumer health expertise could accelerate implementation. "By combining Microsoft's cloud and AI capabilities with Haleon's deep consumer health expertise, we're accelerating our AI progress - simplifying how we work, unlocking more value from our data, accelerating innovation and helping our teams make faster, smarter decisions to benefit our consumers," she said.

Cloud and security backbone

Haleon uses Microsoft Azure as its primary cloud platform and has integrated Microsoft Copilot into daily workflows across departments. The infrastructure provides data analytics capacity and enterprise security features, including identity protection and governance protocols that allow the company to control data access while scaling AI deployment. The architecture supports compliance requirements across international markets.

Darren Hardman, CEO of Microsoft UK and Ireland, said Haleon is implementing AI with pace. "Haleon is moving with real pace and purpose on its AI journey, using Microsoft cloud and AI capabilities to turn ambition into impact across the entire organisation," he said. "We're proud to support Haleon as it scales AI securely and responsibly, helping the company unlock more value from its data and accelerate its mission to deliver better everyday health to millions more people around the world."

Why this matters for healthcare professionals

This partnership signals that large consumer health companies are embedding AI not just in back-office tasks but in core functions like R&D, supply chain, and regulatory-compliant content creation. For healthcare professionals, the shift means AI-driven health information and product development cycles may speed up, requiring familiarity with how such tools validate data and maintain compliance. Teams that understand Microsoft's AI ecosystem-and how it's being applied in regulated health settings-will be better positioned as the sector adopts these technologies at scale.
