Artificial Intelligence and Creativity
Artificial Intelligence is not here to replace jobs. Instead, it’s becoming a tool that boosts creativity and productivity, as industry leaders confirmed during WAVES 2025. This event brought together experts exploring how design, media, and technology are coming together in new ways.
Keynote Address: AI Amplifying Creativity
Shantanu Narayen, Adobe’s Chairman and CEO, opened the event with a clear message: AI supports creative work—it doesn’t replace it. Highlighting India’s role, he noted over 500 million Indians consume digital content, with a huge surge in regional language engagement driving growth.
Generative AI tools are helping creators push beyond traditional formats. From cinema to mobile storytelling, imaging, and design, these tools expand creative possibilities. Narayen outlined four strategic steps for leveraging AI:
- Boost creativity and streamline production
- Innovate business models
- Develop an AI-skilled workforce
- Encourage entrepreneurship
AI and Creative Productivity: Insights from NVIDIA
Richard Kerris, NVIDIA Vice-President, shared how AI changes the creative process. He reflected on the early challenges of 3D animation and pointed out that generative AI drastically cuts down the time from concept to finished work.
But he stressed one point: knowing your craft is still crucial. “AI puts tools in your hands, but knowing the craft remains essential.”
Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director at NVIDIA India, agreed. He emphasized that AI doesn’t replace the passion behind creative work—it supports and enables it.
Masterclass on Generative AI
The day ended with a hands-on session by Anish Mukherjee from NVIDIA, showcasing advanced generative media tools. Highlights included turning static images into digital humans, multilingual voice-overs, and AI-driven character animation.
Using NVIDIA’s Fugato model, Mukherjee demonstrated AI-generated music and realistic lip-syncing, ideal for dubbing workflows. He also introduced Cosmos, a set of models for video generation and simulation training through the Omniverse platform.
All sessions pointed to one clear direction: AI is a partner that enhances how creatives tell stories and produce content. India is quickly becoming a key player in this transformation.
