Nordic Semiconductor Extends AI-Assisted Development Across IoT Device Lifecycle
Nordic Semiconductor released AI-assisted development tools that work across the entire wireless IoT product lifecycle-from initial prototype through deployed devices in the field. The capability is available today.
Most AI assistance in embedded development stops at the code editor. Nordic's approach connects hardware, software, and cloud services, enabling developers to use AI throughout the SDK, production handover, and fleet diagnostics.
What developers gain
The tools deliver three concrete benefits. Developers can move faster from idea to proof of concept on Nordic development kits. AI assistance produces accurate results in fewer iterations, which reduces token costs and improves code reliability. Once devices are deployed, developers can run AI-assisted root-cause analysis and debugging within the same workflow.
The capability works with any AI assistant developers already use, delivered through Nordic's MCP servers. This means developers don't need to switch tools or leave their preferred environment.
The problem being solved
Embedded developers spend days on tasks like SDK version migrations, custom board setup, and diagnosing crashes on deployed devices. Nordic's approach merges these into a single conversation with the AI assistant and Nordic-specific context built in.
