Nvidia, Foxconn and Taiwan hospitals deploy AI agent systems across clinical and surgical workflows

Taiwan is deploying AI agent teams across major hospitals to handle clinical tasks as the country faces rapid population aging. Foxconn's CoDoctor platform cuts a two-hour cardiac imaging workflow to one minute.

Taiwan Deploys AI Agent Teams in Hospitals to Address Workforce Shortage

Nvidia announced that Foxconn and Taiwan's major medical centers are deploying AI-powered agent systems across hospitals to handle clinical and operational tasks as the island faces one of the world's fastest-aging populations.

The move targets a real constraint: coordinating care across clinicians, devices, and shifts requires constant orchestration that no single tool can manage. Taiwan's government committed $1.5 billion under its "Healthy Taiwan" initiative to build an AI-native health system spanning clinical hospitals, academic institutions, and technology companies.

Foxconn will integrate the ecosystem, connecting government programs, hospitals, device makers, and software companies to deploy clinical AI at scale.

How Specialized Agents Work

AI for Healthcare systems in Taiwan operate as coordinated teams. Digital agents handle clinical reasoning, documentation, and care coordination inside hospital systems. Physical agents-robots and intelligent devices-operate on hospital floors managing logistics, monitoring, and procedural support.

Foxconn's CoDoctor platform brings together specialized agents focused on cardiovascular care, oncology, ophthalmology, and other areas. The platform includes three new agents:

  • ECG AI Agent: Screens EKGs to triage patients more efficiently
  • Corovia AI Agent: Reconstructs the heart and coronary arteries in 3D, reducing a two-hour workflow to one minute
  • Endovia AI Agent: Detects lesions during colonoscopy in real time with millisecond-level processing

Foxconn's CoDoClaw system coordinates these agents across breast cancer screening, ECG analysis, fundus imaging, and coronary artery analysis through a single clinical interface. The platform is being deployed across Taiwan's major medical centers for ECG screening, cancer classification, surgical planning, and real-time diagnostic support during procedures.

Robots in Operating Rooms and Wards

AI Agents & Automation extend beyond digital systems. Foxconn's Scrub Bot operates in live surgical suites, responding to surgeon voice commands and adapting to changing needs in real time.

The Nurabot nursing robot completed field validation at Taichung Veterans General Hospital last year and has moved into broader deployment. It now operates at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Tungs' Taichung MetroHarbor Hospital, and long-term care settings. By handling transport and logistics, the robot frees two to three hours per day for nurses to focus on direct patient care.

Foxconn uses Nvidia Omniverse digital twins to test and train robots in virtual replicas of hospitals before deployment. This approach cut deployment time by 40% and achieved 98% navigation accuracy.

Where Taiwan Stands

Taiwan has cleared 85 FDA- or TFDA-approved medical AI solutions. Every major medical center is engaged in AI research or clinical trials, with a majority now operating mature AI systems in daily workflows.

Active deployments span Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, MacKay Memorial Hospital, National Taiwan University Hospital, and others-a network handling more than 14 million patient encounters annually.

The "Healthy Taiwan" model demonstrates what's possible when government, industry, and healthcare providers align around a shared goal. Other countries seeking to build sovereign, AI-native health systems are watching the results.
