OKAPI:Orbits Secures €13 Million Seed Funding for AI-Powered Space Operations Platform

OKAPI:Orbits, a startup focused on AI-driven space operations, has raised €13 million in seed funding. Their platform supports Space Traffic Management (STM) by offering end-to-end services for space missions—from initial planning through to end-of-life operations.

The company’s technology helps predict and detect movements within crowded orbital environments, addresses frequency interference, and assesses environmental impacts. It includes simulation tools and ensures compliance with international standards such as the European Space Agency’s Space Debris Mitigation Requirements (SDMR) and NASA’s Orbital Debris Mitigation Standard Practices (ODMSP).

OKAPI:Orbits’ AI-based situational awareness platform also provides risk prediction and collision avoidance advice, enhancing operational safety for satellite operators and other space mission stakeholders.

Funding Details

The seed round was led by Ventech, with participation from Matterwave Ventures, Amadeus APEX Technology Fund, and individual investors. The investment will help OKAPI:Orbits expand its technical capabilities, grow its team, and increase its international presence.

Company Vision

Kristina Nikolaus, CEO of OKAPI:Orbits, stated: “Our goal is to create lasting value for our customers while ensuring the long-term viability of our orbital environment. This funding round will help us strengthen our position in the space industry. Based in Europe and supported by top global talent, we are well-positioned to build resilient and independent Space Domain Awareness capabilities for both commercial and institutional clients worldwide.”

Industry Perspective

Nicolas Barthalon, Principal at Ventech, emphasized the growing need for effective space operations management: “With increasing activity in space, satellite operators require comprehensive asset catalogues, reliable collision risk forecasts, predictable mission economics, and collaborative platforms vetted by the industry. OKAPI delivers on all fronts with strong intellectual property and key industry connections. We’re excited to support their mission to make space missions safer and more sustainable.”
