Omantel Opens AI Centre and Startup Program to Develop Commercial Products
Omantel, Oman's telecommunications company, launched an AI Centre of Excellence and a companion AI Startups Program designed to move technology projects from experimental stages into market-ready products. The centre provides infrastructure, data environments, and technical expertise to support AI development across telecommunications, financial services, energy, healthcare, and government sectors.
The AI Startups Program connects five startups-Decoil, Remedy, ORKI, DeepAstra, and Wiya-with Omantel's internal teams and operational systems. Participating companies gain access to production environments where they can test and refine AI products before scaling.
What Product Developers Get
Startups in the program receive direct access to Omantel's advanced infrastructure and integrated data environments. They work alongside Omantel's technical teams and tap into regional and international partnerships to accelerate product development and market entry.
The program sits within Omantel's broader "Everyone AI" strategy, which focuses on practical, scalable AI adoption rather than theoretical exploration. This approach gives startups a clearer path from prototype to commercial viability.
Strategic Fit for Oman's Tech Ecosystem
Omantel CEO Aladdin Baitfadhil said the initiative aims to "accelerate the development of digital products capable of competing regionally and globally." The company frames the effort as part of Oman Vision 2040, the nation's long-term development plan.
For product teams, the program offers a structured way to validate AI applications in real operational contexts-a critical step before pursuing broader market adoption.
