Quiltt Launches Thread, an AI Tool for Activity Planning in Senior Living
Quiltt released Thread on June 8, an AI system designed to help activity directors in senior living communities plan resident programming. The tool is available as part of the Quiltt platform or as a standalone product.
Thread's core feature is Program Arcs, which generates multi-session activity series based on individual residents rather than generic monthly themes. An activity director provides a starting point-a resident's background, interests, or skills-and Thread builds a full program outline with session-by-session guides.
Four Program Arc Types
- Study: Sequential learning programs
- Theme: Modular exploration around a topic
- Series: Scheduled events
- Practice: Progressive skill-building that emphasizes ongoing growth
Practice Arcs represent the model's philosophical shift. Instead of asking who a resident was, they ask who that person still wants to become.
Time Savings for Activity Directors
Activity professionals have long cited time constraints as the biggest barrier to person-centered programming. Thread addresses this directly. Katie White, an activity director at Whitefish at the Lakes, said she previously spent hours on Pinterest and Facebook planning activities and lost sleep over calendar deadlines.
"These days, the thing I rely on Thread for most is step-by-step guides for the residents and AI assistance," White said. "The time it gives me back, I spend in memory care with the residents."
White also noted that Thread replaces her ChatGPT subscription, offering more focused and protected content than general-purpose AI tools.
How It Works in Practice
Mathew Guilfoyle, COO of Quiltt, described a concrete example: when an activity director discovers a resident spent 40 years as a biology teacher, Thread builds a series of programs around that resident's expertise. Monthly themed content cannot make this connection.
"It can pack a calendar. It cannot know who is sitting in the room," Guilfoyle said of traditional monthly programming. "Thread can turn a resident's life story, passions, and interests into proactive, personalized programming built around who they are."
Pricing and Availability
Thread is included at no additional cost with every Quiltt subscription. For communities without Quiltt, Thread Essentials is free. The full Thread tier costs $5 per month and includes unlimited activities, community libraries, Program Arcs, and newsletter content.
For AI for Creatives working in senior living, the tool addresses a specific problem: generating personalized content at scale. The productivity gains come from automating the research and planning phases, freeing staff to focus on delivery and resident interaction.
