Relativity has renamed its cloud platform RelativityOne to Relativity aiR, folding its AI capabilities into the core product identity. The move signals that AI is no longer a separate add-on but the foundation of the platform used by the world's largest law firms, corporations, and government agencies for their most consequential legal work.
One platform, one name
The company had previously used "Relativity aiR" as the name for its suite of agentic AI tools within RelativityOne. Unifying both under a single name reflects what the company says is a decade of building AI directly into the platform. "This name confirms what our community already knows: AI is as transformative a shift as the cloud was years ago, and Relativity has the trusted platform and the experience to lead through it responsibly," said Phil Saunders, CEO of Relativity.
The platform's AI capabilities are included in current pricing. Customers access every agentic tool as part of the platform, with value measured through the work produced rather than a separate line item. The company said the change reinforces its focus on AI embedded natively throughout the system, supporting existing legal tasks and opening new categories of work.
Results at scale
Relativity aiR has delivered more than 620 million high-value legal results in 2026, as of September 9. These are outputs a qualified human confirmed and used on real matters. Questions that go beyond what keyword or metadata searches can answer - requiring an agent to read across the record and reason about what it says - have grown 44 percent month over month.
More than 40 published customer and partner stories document what the platform delivers in practice. Examples include multimillion-dollar litigations completed with a fraction of the review hours, data subject access and regulatory productions finished in as little as 48 hours with precision rates as high as 99.8 percent, and internal investigations that once took a full team months resolved by a single reviewer in under an hour.
"That combination of trust and verified results is what we have been building on as we bring aiR to lawyers, into Word and other surfaces where legal work happens," said Chris Brown, President of Relativity.
Broadening the user base and use cases
Relativity has expanded who the platform serves. A tool called Relativity claiR, currently in Advanced Access, gives lawyers conversational command of their legal data. The company has also been applying the platform to more AI for Legal use cases beyond litigation, including data breach responses and Freedom of Information Act requests. Fifty-seven percent of new workspaces created in Relativity aiR this year serve matters outside traditional litigation.
The company acquired Gavel to bring Relativity aiR directly into Microsoft Word, so intelligence from the platform follows lawyers into the documents they draft. Through Model Context Protocol integrations, external enterprise AI agents can now orchestrate matters and workflows within Relativity aiR. These developments align with the growing need for AI Learning Path for Paralegals and other legal professionals adapting to tools that handle high-volume review and analysis tasks.
Why this matters for legal professionals
The rebranding reflects a practical shift: AI tools are moving from experimental line items to the default infrastructure for legal data work. For lawyers, paralegals, and legal operations teams, the change means AI capabilities are not a separate purchase decision - they are already built into the platform their organizations use. The documented results - 99.8 percent precision on regulatory productions, investigations resolved in under an hour - set a concrete benchmark for what AI-assisted legal work looks like at scale. Legal professionals should expect their primary platforms to increasingly embed AI this deeply, and the metrics from Relativity aiR offer a reference point for evaluating what their own tools should deliver.
