Remote Patent Associate or Patent Agent Opportunity – AI / Machine Learning Focus
A leading IP boutique law firm is looking to add a Patent Associate and a Patent Agent to their team. Ideal candidates will have a background in electrical engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, or data science, combined with 3-10 years of hands-on experience drafting and prosecuting a significant volume of patent applications.
Key Qualifications
- Experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, software, computer hardware, and computer architecture.
- Educational background in electrical engineering, computer science, AI, or data science. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Prior USPTO Examiner experience is advantageous.
- Comfortable with all patent prosecution aspects before the USPTO—drafting applications, responding to office actions, and interviewing patent examiners.
- Strong track record managing multiple active patent portfolios, both domestic and international.
- Experience representing a diverse client base, from startups to established companies.
- Handled complex portfolios involving inter-related patent applications and filing formalities.
- Worked with foreign counsel on international patent prosecution.
- Project and budget management for large patent portfolios.
- Prepared design guidance, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience liaising directly with clients and business teams.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Remote work experience with willingness to travel occasionally.
- USPTO Registration required.
- An entrepreneurial mindset is highly valued.
