Portuguese Law Firm SPS-Barrilero Integrates Mowly AI Platform Into Daily Practice
SPS-Barrilero has adopted Mowly, a Portuguese AI platform built for legal work, integrating the tool across legal research, document automation, contract analysis, and internal knowledge management. The partnership marks the firm's decision to embed AI into core operations rather than treat it as an optional add-on.
Mowly draws from more than ten Portuguese data sources including legislation, case law, and legal doctrine. The platform claims 95% accuracy and efficiency gains of up to 80% in time saved, according to the law firm.
The platform was founded by Miguel Fidalgo and Francisco Costa, who built it with input from legal professionals to address gaps in AI tools tailored to Portuguese legal practice. Mowly is expanding into Spain, Brazil, and Macau.
SPS-Barrilero participated in Mowly's development from early stages, helping refine features for practical legal work. The firm has applied the platform to repetitive tasks, contract review, and internal knowledge systems.
Manuel Gibert Prates, a partner at SPS-Barrilero, said the integration "represents not only a technological evolution, but also a structural change in the way legal services will be delivered."
Fidalgo and Costa said the partnership demonstrates that AI in law "has moved beyond being merely a future prospect to taking on a concrete role in the day-to-day practice of the most innovative firms."
