Stensul's September release puts AI agents to work on campaign production

Stensul, the AI governance platform for enterprise email marketing, released new capabilities in September that let enterprises use their existing AI tools and agents to create campaigns within approved requirements and brand controls. The update moves large organizations toward a model where AI agents handle production - from brief through campaign assembly - while people direct strategy, manage exceptions, and oversee approvals.

The release includes expanded MCP powers for real-time governance of AI and agents, a Figma integration that turns completed designs into reusable Stensul modules, and extended QA automation that flags errors early in the build process.

AI agents take on more campaign work

Through the Stensul MCP, agents can now start from a Workfront brief, select an appropriate template or approved email, add approved imagery, generate alt text, apply tracking parameters, create content for predefined audience segments, and preview the resulting email before handoff.

"With Stensul, our AI can now handle images, links, and copy for our pre-templated emails," said Justin Price, Multichannel Marketing Leader at the Milwaukee Bucks, an early user of the new release. "Completing these requests more efficiently via MCP allows our team to invest even more time in multichannel creative campaigns."

Figma designs become governed campaign modules

The expanded Figma integration lets authorized designers create new modules and publish them directly to the Stensul library. Marketers and AI agents can then use those modules to build campaigns, updating text and other permitted elements within each module's governance rules and their own access permissions. A design becomes a reusable campaign asset without an administrator rebuilding it.

The QA automation addresses a familiar problem: administrators set requirements once, and the system catches mistakes like missing subject lines or stray placeholder text. Catching these at the point of creation avoids costly rebuild and review cycles later.

A governance layer across existing tools

"Our customers are moving toward a new campaign operating model, where AI agents handle production at scale and people focus on strategy, judgment, and exceptions," said Manlio Carrelli, CEO of Stensul. "Stensul provides the governance layer that enables this shift across the tools enterprises already use - so campaign volume and personalization can grow without production effort growing alongside them."

The new capabilities connect steps that typically sit apart: briefs, AI tools, design files, campaign builders, and review processes. Marketing operations teams establish approved starting points and requirements once; marketers, designers, and AI agents then create within those boundaries. This matters for teams looking at AI for Marketing because it addresses the core tension between automation and brand control.

Why this matters for marketing teams

For marketing operations leaders, the practical takeaway is that AI agents can now be given defined production tasks - selecting templates, adding imagery, building audience-specific content - without loosening brand or compliance standards. The governance sits across both AI and human work continuously, from templates and imagery through tracking, audience logic, brand checks, and approval. That means campaign volume can scale without adding headcount to match it.
