Telangana Government to Integrate AI into TG-iPASS for Faster Industrial Approvals

The Telangana government has announced plans to embed Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into TG-iPASS, the state's well-known industrial project approval system. Since its launch in 2014-15, TG-iPASS has played a crucial role in attracting large-scale investments, approving over 27,500 projects with a total investment exceeding ₹3 lakh crore.

Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu shared this update during a meeting with French business representatives on June 24, 2025, at the Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad. The AI integration is expected to improve the speed and transparency of project clearances, streamlining the approval process further.

TG-iPASS: A Decade of Industrial Growth

Originally introduced by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (formerly TRS) government, TG-iPASS has been a key policy instrument supporting Telangana's industrial growth. Out of all approved projects, nearly 25,000 belong to manufacturing, while about 2,700 fall under the services sector. These approvals are projected to generate approximately 1.89 lakh jobs.

Since the Telangana government changed in 2023, the Congress administration has aimed to enhance TG-iPASS by introducing policies like the MSME Policy to close existing gaps. The recent decision to integrate AI aligns with the government’s broader ambitions to position Telangana as a hub for emerging technologies.

Future City and Indo-French Collaboration

The Minister invited French companies to participate in Telangana’s ambitious Future City project—a 30,000-acre innovation hub developed through a public-private partnership. This initiative reflects the Chief Minister’s vision to make Telangana a leader in innovation, sustainability, and infrastructure development.

French firms such as Sanofi, Monin, Safran, Capgemini, Dassault, Teleperformance, and Opella Healthcare already have a strong foothold in Telangana across sectors like aerospace, IT, and pharmaceuticals. The government is encouraging deeper Indo-French business ties and investments in sectors including:

  • Clean energy and green mobility
  • Smart healthcare and digital governance
  • Future-ready education
  • Sustainable manufacturing and agri-innovation
  • Emerging technology development

Telangana’s Growing Investment Appeal

In the past 18 months, Telangana has attracted investments exceeding ₹3 lakh crore. Hyderabad alone welcomed 70 new Global Capability Centres (GCCs) last year, underscoring the state's pro-business policies and efficient governance. The government continues to focus on creating an investment-friendly environment that supports industry growth and job creation.

With AI integration into TG-iPASS, Telangana aims to offer even faster approvals and increased transparency, reinforcing its position as a preferred destination for industrial and technological investments.
