Tripura Government Advances Data Centers to Boost AI and 5G Integration

The Tripura government is taking significant steps to develop data centers aimed at enhancing the synergy between artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G technology. Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the benefits of combining AI and 5G during a special session titled “IT for Ashtalakshmi: Beyond the Bits and Bytes, Into AI and 5G” at the Rising Northeast Investors' Summit 2025 in New Delhi. He described the relationship between these technologies as symbiotic, where AI’s smart algorithms reduce operational complexity while 5G ensures rapid information transfer.

According to CM Saha, AI improves efficiency by automating tasks with smart algorithms, leading to faster performance and cost savings. “As AI expands, the cost of connectivity continues to decline. The convergence of 5G and AI is not just about speed, it will support the demands of future technological activities,” Saha remarked.

Current Progress and Future Plans

• 5G connectivity has been rolled out extensively, connecting all towns and 583 villages in Tripura.
• Land has been allocated for new data centers, which will serve as a digital hub for the eastern and northeastern parts of India.
• The government is moving towards a paperless administration, reducing file clearance times from nine days to three, saving over Rs 50 crore annually.
