Trump Orders AI Companies to Submit Models for Government Review
President Donald Trump issued an executive order Tuesday that requires artificial intelligence companies to voluntarily submit frontier models to the U.S. government for up to 30 days of assessment before public release. The order directs the Treasury Department, Office of the National Cyber Director, Department of Defense, National Security Agency, and Department of Homeland Security to establish an "AI cybersecurity clearinghouse" in collaboration with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
This clearinghouse will work with technology companies, power utilities, hospitals, and other critical infrastructure operators to identify and patch AI software vulnerabilities.
