AI agent for tour guides
Cruise Shore Excursion Timing Agent
The group returns to the ship before the all-aboard time with the planned buffer, even when delays occur.
What it does
Missing the ship's departure is costly, and shore excursion timing depends on port delays and traffic. The agent reads the ship's schedule and the all-aboard time, builds the tour timeline with buffers, and monitors delays on the day. If time shrinks, it cuts stops by priority and rechecks that the group can still return with the buffer, and it keeps checking until the group is back on board. It drafts the message for the guests and the driver, with the new times, so the guide can read it in seconds. It never changes the plan on its own. The guide approves any change to guests. Edge case: a tender port where the last boat leaves earlier than the all-aboard time.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Excursion booked or ship schedule confirmed
- Read the ship schedule and the stops
- Build the timeline backward from all-aboard with a buffer
- Rank stops by priority
- Monitor delays and traffic on the day
- Is the return buffer still above the minimum? If not: Cut or shorten the lowest priority stop and recalculate. Back to step 5.
- Recheck the return route and transport time
- Does the group still make the all-aboard time?If not: Cut another stop and alert the guide. Back to step 6.
- Guide approves changes to guestsThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Send the new plan to the driver and guests
- Return confirmed
How it decides
It works backward from the all-aboard time and drops the lowest priority stops first to keep the return buffer.
- Keep a 60 minute buffer before all-aboard
- Tender ports use the last boat time
- Cut the lowest priority stop first
- Alert the guide when the buffer falls below 75 minutes
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Buffer length (default 60 minutes)
- Alert level (default 75 minutes)
- Stop priority list
- Tender port rules
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Guide approves any change to guests
Hard limits
- Never delay the group past the buffer
- Do not make promises about the ship
It stops when
- Done: group returns with the buffer
- Stop: buffer cannot be kept and the guide contacts the ship agent
