Festival Submission Agent

A festival run that respects premiere rules and meets every deadline

Festival Submission Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Festival strategy can fall apart when an early screening breaks a bigger festival's premiere rules. This agent builds a festival plan from the film's length, genre and premiere status. It lists matching festivals with deadlines, fees, premiere requirements and format needs. It checks the plan does not break premiere rules, such as a smaller festival screening before one that needs a world premiere. Conflicts are flagged and the plan is reordered. For each submission it prepares the materials: screener link, synopsis versions, stills and credits. It tracks results and updates the plan as acceptances and rejections come in. The filmmaker approves each submission and fee. Edge case: an online screening can break premiere status, so the agent checks every public screening.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensThe plan included a regional festival in March and a major festival requiring a national premiere in May. The premiere check failed. The agent flagged the conflict and showed both options. The filmmaker chose the major festival, and the agent moved the regional one to the autumn, rechecked the plan and prepared the May submission for approval.
