AI agent for sales managers

Inventory-Linked Promotion Planner Agent

A promotion plan limited to items that have stock and keep margin

Inventory-Linked Promotion Planner Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

A promotion on an item that sells out in two days wastes the advertising and frustrates customers. This agent reads stock levels, inbound shipments and demand history, then finds items that can carry a promotion without running out. It checks the expected margin at the planned discount, and removes items where the margin is too low. When stock changes, such as a late shipment or a sellout, it reruns the list and adjusts the plan. It then checks that the final promotion list matches stock and margin rules. The manager approves the plan. Edge case: a popular item has stock but a delayed shipment, so the agent shortens the promotion window.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

How it decides

An item qualifies if stock covers expected demand for the whole promotion and margin stays above the floor. The list is rechecked when stock changes.

  • Require stock of at least 120 percent of expected demand
  • Remove items below the margin floor
  • Shorten a promotion when shipments are late
  • Rerun the list when stock changes by 20 percent

An example run

What happensA 15 percent off weekend covers 40 items. Item 17 has 90 units against an expected 110, so the agent removes it. Item 22 has stock, but at 15 percent its margin is 8 against a 12 floor, so the agent tests 10 percent and keeps it. On Saturday a shipment is late and item 9 will run out, so the agent proposes ending it Sunday. The manager approves.
