AI agent for marketing coordinators
Monthly Competitor Social Benchmark Agent
Give the team an accurate monthly view of competitor social performance and three ideas to test
What it does
Coordinators are often asked how the brand is doing against competitors and answer by scrolling feeds. This agent runs a monthly benchmark. It collects public posts from a set list of competitor accounts, counts posting frequency, formats, and engagement per post relative to follower size. It groups top posts by theme and format, then compares with the brand's own results for the same month. After calculating, it checks the data is complete for every account and platform. If an account was missing or a platform limit cut off data, it re-collects or marks the gap. It also checks that any big swing is not caused by one viral or paid post, and reports it separately. It drafts a two-page summary with three test ideas. The coordinator approves the report and any ideas taken forward. Edge case: a competitor rebranded its handle, so it updates the account list.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Month ends
- Collect public posts from each competitor account
- Is data complete for every account and platform? If not: re-collect or mark the gap in the report. Back to step 2.
- Calculate frequency, format mix and engagement per post by follower size
- Separate outlier posts above five times median engagement
- Group top posts by theme and format
- Compare with the brand's own monthly results
- Is each test idea backed by at least three competitor posts? If not: drop the idea or look for more examples. Back to step 6.
- Coordinator approves the report and ideasThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Benchmark report and test ideas
How it decides
It compares engagement per post scaled by follower count, and treats any post more than five times the account's median as an outlier reported on its own.
- Scale engagement by follower count before comparing accounts
- Report posts above five times the account median as outliers
- Back each idea with at least three posts from two or more competitors
- Update the account list when a handle changes
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Competitor account list
- Platforms in scope
- Outlier threshold (default 5 times median)
- Report length (default two pages)
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Sharing the report with the wider team
- Which ideas get tested
Hard limits
- Uses only public data
- Never engages with or reports competitor posts
- Never copies competitor content
It stops when
- Done: report drafted with complete data or labeled gaps
- Stop: competitor list is empty, so it asks for one
