Nurse Staffing Gap Agent

Safe staffing depends on patient numbers, patient needs and skill mix, and gaps found on the day force expensive agency calls. Each day this agent reads the roster for the next two weeks, expected patient numbers, acuity and leave, and finds shifts below the required staffing. Wards with high-acuity patients need a higher ratio than their base level. For each gap it drafts fill options in order: internal moves from wards with extra cover, then bank shifts, and agency only as a last resort, always keeping skill mix rules. The nursing manager approves moves and agency use. It updates the roster status and checks again after each fill. If a gap is still open 48 hours before the shift, it escalates. Edge case: a move that would leave the donor ward below its own safe level is never suggested.
