AI agent for judges
Self-Represented Litigant Guidance Routing Agent
Give self-represented parties a neutral checklist of procedural gaps before each hearing and give the judge a clear note.
What it does
Self-represented parties often miss steps, and hearing time gets spent on gaps that could have been fixed before the day. Before a hearing, the agent reviews the file and lists what the party has and has not filed. It checks which court-approved guidance sheets apply to the case type, then prepares a neutral procedural checklist for the party and a note for the judge on the open gaps. It does not give legal advice and it uses only court-approved wording. When new filings arrive, it updates the checklist. The judge approves what is sent so the court stays neutral. Edge case: the party filed a response but not the required proof of service, so the checklist lists only that item.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Hearing set with a self-represented party
- Read the file and hearing type
- List required filings and compare with the docket
- Mark each requirement as filed, missing or unclear
- Is every missing item clearly required for this hearing? If not: Check the court rules again and drop or flag unclear items for the judge. Back to step 3.
- Match approved guidance sheets to the case type
- Draft a neutral checklist and a judge note
- Judge approves what is sent to the partyThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Watch for new filings before the hearing
- Did a new filing close a gap?If not: Update the checklist and note. Back to step 3.
- Final checklist and judge note
How it decides
It lists a gap only when the requirement for the hearing type is clear and no filing meets it. It selects guidance sheets by hearing and case type, never by party strategy.
- Only items required by rule for this hearing are listed
- Only court-approved guidance wording is used
- An unclear requirement is sent to the judge, not to the party
- Checklist is updated up to 24 hours before the hearing
