AI agent for retail sales associates

Shelf Gap and Restock Agent

Keep shelves full during each shift and catch stock count errors

Shelf Gap and Restock Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Associates must keep shelves full while also helping customers, and gaps are easy to miss on a busy floor. Every two hours during a shift, this agent reads shelf scan or photo results and sales data to find empty and low spots. For each item, it checks back room and system stock. If stock is in the back, it adds the item to a restock list sorted by aisle. If the system says stock exists but the back room is empty, it flags a likely count error. After the associate restocks, it checks the shelf again; if a spot is still empty, it looks for the item in other locations and updates the list. The associate does the restocking, and the shift lead approves every count correction. Edge case: a recalled item is never restocked, even when stock is present in the back room.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensAt the 2 p.m. check the agent finds 14 gaps in the cereal and pet aisles. It checks the back room and finds stock for 11. For 3 items the system shows 12 units, but none are on hand. It builds a restock list by aisle. The after-restock scan fails on aisle 7: one shelf is still half empty. The agent finds a second case in overflow. The shift lead approves counts set to zero for the 3 items.
