Training Needs Gap Analysis Agent

A training plan that targets the most important skills gaps within budget

Training Needs Gap Analysis Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Each year HR must decide what training to fund, often from guesswork and loud requests. This agent gathers skill requirements per role, current skill ratings from reviews or self-assessments, business priorities and course completion data. Before calculating gaps, it checks the ratings are credible, for example teams where everyone rated themselves top marks, and asks managers to validate those. It then calculates gaps by role and team and ranks them by business importance times the number of people affected. It matches courses to the top gaps within budget and checks the plan covers the top five gaps; if not, it swaps lower-value courses for ones that close them. The HR director approves the plan. Edge case: a gap comes from a new system not yet rolled out, so the agent schedules that training close to the launch date.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensSales rated their data skills 4.6 of 5, but CRM report usage was low, so the credibility check failed. Managers rerated the team at 2.9. The first plan spent most of the $120,000 budget on leadership courses and missed the data gap, failing the coverage check. The agent swapped in two data courses and dropped one leadership course. The HR director approved.
