AI agent for traders
Watchlist Setup Screening Agent
A ranked short list of watchlist candidates that meet the trader's rules and pass the safety checks
What it does
A trader with a written playbook still ends up eyeballing charts and missing setups. Each morning this agent loads the trader's written setup rules and runs them across the watchlist using price and volume data. For every ticker that matches, it checks liquidity, upcoming earnings and conflicts with positions the trader already holds. Candidates that fail a check are dropped with the reason. The survivors are ranked by how closely they match the rules, and each one lists exactly which rules it meets. If too few candidates remain, the agent relaxes only the filters the trader marked as flexible and runs the screen again. The trader chooses which candidates become trade ideas, and the agent never places orders. Edge case: a ticker that fits the pattern but reports earnings tomorrow is held back and labeled instead of ranked.
How it works
Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.
Read the steps as a list
- Before the market opens
- Load the setup rules and the watchlist
- Fetch price, volume and indicator data
- Run the rules across every ticker
- Check liquidity, earnings dates and open positions for each match
- Do enough candidates pass all checks? If not: relax only the filters marked flexible and rerun the screen. Back to step 4.
- Rank candidates and list the rules each one meets
- Does each ranked ticker still meet its rules on the latest data?If not: refresh the data and rescreen that ticker. Back to step 4.
- Trader picks which candidates become trade ideasThe agent waits here for your OK.
- Daily candidate list with reasons
How it decides
A ticker qualifies when it meets every required rule. Liquidity, earnings and overlap checks can remove it. Ranking uses how many optional rules it also meets.
- Drop a ticker below the minimum average daily volume
- Hold back a ticker with earnings within 2 trading days
- Drop a ticker that would duplicate sector exposure above the trader's limit
- Relax only filters the trader marked flexible, and no more than once
Make it yours
Every agent is a starting point. You choose these settings for your own situation.
- Setup rules and which are flexible
- Minimum average daily volume (default 500,000 shares)
- Earnings blackout window (default 2 days)
- Number of candidates to deliver (default 8)
What keeps you in control
It always asks you first
- Trader selects the trade ideas
Hard limits
- Never places or changes an order
- Never ranks a ticker that fails a required rule
It stops when
- Done: a ranked list with reasons is delivered
- Stop: market data is stale or missing
