Treg positions itself as "OpenRouter for tools," borrowing the pay-per-call model from the LLM routing space and applying it to non-LLM APIs. Instead of navigating individual vendor dashboards, an agent searches by task, sees the price per request, and calls one endpoint. The team started it as an internal tool before deciding to launch publicly.

The proxy handles authentication server-side, so agents never hold API keys themselves. Treg currently shows a 4.0 rating from one review and has 222 followers on Product Hunt.

The intended audience is developers building agents that need external tools for real work, in other words, teams who would rather pay for an action than a monthly seat on software they barely use. It works best for those comfortable accepting a proxy in their data path, and who value the convenience of a single integration point. Given the open source license and the BYOK option, teams with existing vendor subscriptions could test it with low exposure.
