SavePropTax MCP server

by atifnayeem-oss

Check if a California home is over-assessed and start a property tax appeal from your chat.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Is 123 Main St, Walnut Creek over-assessed?”, the SavePropTax MCP server connects it to California property records, and you get back over-assessed or fair.

This is a helper that lets your AI look up whether a California home is paying too much in property tax. You give it an address, and it checks recent nearby sales to see if the county's value looks too high. It is handy for homeowners, real estate agents, and anyone helping people in California lower a tax bill.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to a service. This one connects your AI to SavePropTax, a service that checks California property tax assessments. Once connected, your AI can ask that service about a home and bring the answer back to you.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI about a California address. Your AI passes the address to this helper, which looks at public records and recent comparable sales. The helper works out whether the home looks over-assessed and roughly how much you might save each year. If it qualifies, it can prepare the county's own review form and email a signing link to the homeowner. The owner then reviews, signs, and pays the $29 fee themselves.

What you can do with it

  • Check whether a California home is over-assessed
  • See an estimated yearly tax savings from recent sales
  • Find out if the county's review window is open
  • Prepare the county's Proposition 8 review form
  • Send a signing link to the homeowner's email
  • Check the status of a filing you started

Try asking your AI

  • “Is 123 Main St, Walnut Creek over-assessed?”
  • “Check property tax savings for 456 Oak Ave, San Jose”
  • “Start a property tax appeal for that address, owner is Jane Homeowner, jane@example.com”
  • “What is the status of my property tax filing?”

What it gives back to you

You get a short status word like qualifies or fair_assessment, plus a one-sentence explanation you can read as is. When it qualifies, you also see the current assessment, an opinion of value from recent sales, and an estimated yearly savings. If you start a filing, you get a document ID and a status you can check later.

Before you start

What you need

  • A California property address in a covered county
  • The homeowner's name, phone, and email if you want to start a filing

Good to know

It can send a real email to a homeowner and start a filing, so only use it for a property you are allowed to act on.
