Redfin MCP server

by HasData

Lets your AI look up Redfin homes for sale, for rent, or sold, and read a full property page for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “Find 3-bedroom houses in 78741 under $500,000”, the Redfin MCP server connects it to Redfin, and you get back listings or a property summary.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Redfin, the house-hunting website. Once it is connected, you can ask your AI things like what is for sale in a certain area or what a particular home sold for, and it will go and look it up for you. It is handy for anyone browsing the housing market, whether you are buying, renting, or just curious.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already knows. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to Redfin, so it can look up listings and property pages for you when you ask. You do not need to install anything on your computer, because this helper runs online and you reach it with a web address.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI a question about homes, like what is for sale in a zipcode under a certain price. Your AI sends that request to this helper, which goes and reads the public Redfin pages a normal visitor would see. The helper brings back the listings or the full property page as tidy information. Your AI then reads that and answers you in plain words in the chat. It only reads; it never changes anything on Redfin.

What you can do with it

  • Search homes for sale in a city, zipcode, or neighborhood
  • Search rentals and filter by things like pets allowed or in-unit laundry
  • Look up what homes sold for in a certain area and time window
  • Sort listings by price, size, or how long they have been on the market
  • Filter by bedrooms, bathrooms, price range, home type, and school rating
  • Read a full property page from a Redfin link and summarise it
  • Compare what sold recently with what is listed now

Try asking your AI

  • “Find three-bedroom houses for sale in 78741 under $500,000 and sort them by price per square foot”
  • “What sold in Austin in the last three months, and how does that compare with what is listed now?”
  • “Pull the full property page for this Redfin URL and summarise the condition from the description”
  • “Which rentals in Austin allow dogs and include in-unit laundry?”

What it gives back to you

You get back a list of listings or a single property summary, shown in the chat as readable text. Each listing can include the address, price, bedrooms and bathrooms, square footage, year built, days on market, photos, and a link to Redfin. For a single property, you also get things like price history, school ratings, and the agent's contact details. Your AI turns all of that into a short answer or a table for you.

Before you start

What you need

  • An MCP client, like the Claude desktop app, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, or VS Code
  • A HasData API key (a kind of password for apps; you get one free from the HasData dashboard, no card needed)

Good to know

It only reads public Redfin pages and cannot change anything, but each lookup uses credits from your HasData account, and the free tier covers about 200 calls a month.
