Dolphin emulator MCP server
by dmang-dev
Let your AI read game memory and press buttons inside the Dolphin GameCube and Wii emulator.

This is a helper that connects your AI assistant to Dolphin, the program people use to play GameCube and Wii games on a computer. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI to look at what is happening inside a running game or to press buttons for you. It is handy for people who like to tinker with games, test things, or automate tricky parts.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI one new skill. This helper gives your AI a connection to Dolphin, the GameCube and Wii emulator running on your computer. So when you ask, your AI can look inside the game or send controller input there for you.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something about the game you have open in Dolphin. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to a small script running inside Dolphin, which can read the game's memory, press buttons, or save and load states. The answer comes back to your AI, and your AI explains it to you in the chat. You never have to touch the technical parts yourself.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Read numbers stored in the game's memory, like score or health values
- Write new values into memory to change something in the game
- Press GameCube buttons and move the analog sticks
- Press Wii Remote buttons
- Reset the emulator to restart the game
- Save and load the game to numbered slots
- Advance the game one frame at a time for precise timing
Try asking your AI
- “Check if Dolphin is running and connected”
- “Read the value at memory address 0x80000020 and tell me what it is”
- “Press the A button on GameCube controller port 0”
- “Save the current game to slot 3”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in plain chat: numbers read from memory, confirmation that a button was pressed, or a note that a save or reset happened. Bulk memory reads come back as a hex dump, which is a block of coded numbers your AI can help you read. If something fails, you get a short error message explaining what went wrong.
Before you start
What you need
- Felk's Dolphin fork installed (a special build of Dolphin with Python scripting, not the normal Dolphin)
- Node.js installed on your computer
- The bridge script loaded inside Dolphin's Scripting panel
- A game running in Dolphin for most actions to work
Good to know
Writing to memory or pressing buttons can change or break your game session, so save your progress first and be careful with addresses you are not sure about.
