D&D Oracle MCP server
by gregario
Look up D&D 5e monsters, spells, and rules, and build encounters and characters with your AI.

This is a helper for people who play or run Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition. It gives your AI assistant a big, offline library of official D&D reference material, so you can ask questions and get real answers instead of made-up ones. It is handy for dungeon masters planning a session and for players building a character.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you from what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to something useful. This one connects your AI to a bundled D&D 5e reference library, so when you ask about a monster or a spell, the AI can look it up in that library and answer you. You do not need to be online for it to work, because the data sits on your own computer.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI a D&D question in normal words, like which monsters fit a level 5 party. The AI passes your question to this helper program. The helper searches its own copy of the D&D 5e reference data, which covers monsters, spells, gear, magic items, classes, races, conditions, rules, and random tables. It sends the matching details back, and the AI turns them into a clear answer for you in the chat. Some tools also do small calculations, like encounter budgets or travel times.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Search monsters by challenge rating, type, size, or alignment and get full stat blocks
- Look up spells by level, school, class, or whether they need concentration
- Build an encounter that fits a set XP budget and difficulty
- Compare two or three monsters side by side
- Build a full character sheet from race, class, level, and ability scores
- Analyze a party for saving throw coverage, roles, and darkvision
- Roll on random tables like madness, poisons, or personality traits
Try asking your AI
- “Find me all CR 3 undead monsters with their stat blocks”
- “What 2nd level wizard spells need concentration?”
- “Build a hard encounter for four level 5 characters”
- “Make a level 3 wood elf ranger character sheet with these ability scores”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, usually as lists, short summaries, or full stat blocks and spell details. Some tools give you numbers, like an XP budget, an average damage per round, or travel time in days. Character and loadout tools return a structured sheet with hit points, saves, and features. Nothing is changed anywhere outside the chat, so you can ask again freely.

Good to know
It only reads the bundled D&D reference data, so it will not change anything on your computer, but always double-check important rules against your own books.
