Bide & Musique MCP server

by smeet666

Let your AI search a hand-made catalogue of forgotten French songs and read full record pages for you.

Flow diagram: you ask your AI “What does Bide & Musique have by Jacques Dutronc?”, the Bide & Musique MCP server connects it to Bide & Musique, and you get back songs and record details.

This is a small helper that connects your AI chat to Bide & Musique, a French web radio and its hand-catalogued collection of forgotten songs. Once it is set up, you can ask your AI about a performer, a title, a writer, a label, a year, or even words inside the lyrics, and it will look things up for you. It is handy if you enjoy old French records, novelty songs, TV themes, or just like digging through a quirky archive.

What is an MCP server? The 30-second version

On its own, your AI can only chat with you using what it already learned. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app or service. This one connects your AI to the Bide & Musique collection, so it can search the catalogue and read record pages when you ask. You do not need an account or a key, and the helper runs quietly in the background.

What this MCP server does

You ask your AI something like who wrote a certain song or which records a singer has in the collection. Your AI passes that question to this helper. The helper talks to the Bide & Musique website, searches along the one axis you named, and brings back the matching rows. Then your AI shows you the results in the chat, and if you want more detail on one record, it can open that record's page and read it out to you.

What you can do with it

  • Search the collection by performer, title, writer, lyrics, label or year
  • Read one record in full, including the sleeve credits, the label and the transcribed words
  • Look up an artist and see the records the collection holds of theirs
  • Draw a random record from the collection when you just want to browse
  • See what has just been catalogued on the site
  • Find songs whose lyrics mention a particular word or phrase

Try asking your AI

  • “What does Bide & Musique have by Jacques Dutronc?”
  • “Which songs mention a submarine in their words?”
  • “Read me that record: the label, the year, who wrote it.”
  • “Play me something at random from the collection.”
  • “What has been catalogued lately?”

What it gives back to you

You get back lists of matching songs with their titles, artists and links to the record pages. If you open one record, you get the full details: year, writers, label, catalogue reference, duration, sleeve credits, chart placings, and the lyrics when someone transcribed them. For an artist, you get their name, dates, nationality and a list of their records in the collection. Everything appears as normal text in your chat.
