CozyVTT MCP server
Let your AI run your CozyVTT tabletop campaign: narrate, roll dice, move tokens, track turns.

This is a small helper that connects your AI assistant to CozyVTT, a virtual tabletop you run yourself. Once connected, your AI can join a campaign as the game master, write narration in chat, roll dice on the server, and move pieces around the map. It is handy for people who run tabletop games and want an AI to handle the busy parts.
What is an MCP server? The 30-second version
On its own, your AI can only chat with you. An MCP server is a small helper program that gives your AI a new skill or a connection to an app. This one connects your AI to CozyVTT, your own virtual tabletop. So when you ask your AI to roll a die or move a token, it can actually do that inside your campaign.
What this MCP server does
You ask your AI something like roll a d20 for the goblin or move the elf token two squares. Your AI passes that request to this helper program. The helper talks to your CozyVTT server over its normal connection, using your account. CozyVTT does the real work, like rolling the die on the server or saving the new token spot. Then the result comes back and your AI tells you what happened in the chat.
Click to zoomWhat you can do with it
- Narrate to the table by sending chat messages as the game master
- Roll dice on the server so results are official, including secret rolls to you and the DMs
- Add, move, and remove tokens on the map
- Create, switch, and delete maps from images you already have
- Run combat turn order: add, remove, roll, set, reorder, start, next, end
- Look up creatures from the built-in library or your own custom list
- Manage character sheets, documents, and saved dice macros
Try asking your AI
- “Roll a d20 plus 5 for the goblin's attack”
- “Move the elf token to square 12, 8”
- “Start initiative and add the wolf and the bandit”
- “Send a chat message: the door creaks open and cold air spills out”
What it gives back to you
You get answers in the chat, like the number a die landed on or a short note that a token moved. It can also give you lists, such as the creatures in the library or the characters in your campaign. Some actions come back as pending, meaning the server accepted the request but the final confirmation shows up later in the event feed. Documents can come back as text or as a downloaded PDF file saved on your computer.
Before you start
What you need
- Python 3.11 or newer
- A CozyVTT instance (version 1.2.2 or 1.4.0) and a campaign where your account has the right permissions
- uv (recommended) or pip to install the helper
- Your CozyVTT login details, which the helper uses to sign in
Good to know
It can change or delete things in your campaign, like maps, tokens, and character sheets, so be careful with delete requests and with actions that affect the whole table.
Install it with your AI
Add CozyVTT MCP server to your AI, no technical skills needed
You don't install anything by hand. You copy one prompt, paste it into an AI that can work on your computer, and it checks, installs and connects the server for you, asking you when it needs something.
Sign in to get the install prompt
Members get a ready-made prompt that lets the Claude desktop app check CozyVTT MCP server, install it and connect it for them, step by step. You don't need any technical skills: you copy, paste and answer a few questions. Your connected AI can also find and install any of the 4,066 MCP servers here for you.
Who it's for
Tabletop game masters and keepers who run campaigns on their own CozyVTT server and want an AI to help with narration, dice, and bookkeeping.
