Dushanbe Teen Builds Tajikistan's First AI Legal Assistant: Why It Matters for Your Practice
A 15-year-old in Dushanbe built an AI legal assistant that's already in use across Tajikistan-by citizens and practicing lawyers. The tool, called Moni, explains legal texts in clear language and helps users find relevant articles across core areas of Tajik law.
Moni was created by Foteh Azizov, a tenth-grade student at School No. 6. While helping with content and promotion at his uncle's law firm, he saw how hard it was for non-lawyers-and even himself-to make sense of dense legal language. That pain point turned into a project. He taught himself the fundamentals of AI, iterated through prototypes, and later brought on a professional programmer to refine the platform.
What Moni Does
- Explains legal provisions in plain language without changing their meaning.
- Helps locate relevant articles across tax, land, labor, civil, and administrative law.
- Accepts queries in Tajik, Russian, English, and Kazakh.
- Runs anonymously-no personal data is collected.
- Bases responses only on publicly available legal documents.
Why Legal Professionals Are Using It
Lawyers are using Moni as a fast reference layer. It won't replace analysis, but it trims the time it takes to get to the right section of the code or clarify a concept for a client.
- Quick first pass before deep research.
- Multilingual intake for cross-border or expat clients.
- Client education-clear explanations without jargon.
- Issue spotting on common topics like taxes, employment, and administrative violations.
Common Queries It Handles
- Tax obligations and business registration requirements.
- Employment contracts, leave, and termination.
- Civil rights and procedures.
- Administrative violations and penalties.
How to Fold It Into Your Workflow
- Use Moni for initial scoping, then verify in the primary sources you rely on.
- Keep a short list of frequent client questions and test how Moni explains them-use the output to improve your FAQs and client handouts.
- Leverage the multilingual support during intake; confirm terms and definitions in the source language before advising.
- Treat it as a reference tool, not a final authority.
Privacy and Reliability
All queries are anonymous. The system doesn't collect personal data and draws from public legal texts. That makes it useful for firm environments where confidentiality and predictable sourcing matter.
What's Next
The team plans to keep improving the current product. The goal is simple: stay free, stay useful, and become an everyday legal companion across Tajikistan.
