Adobe's custom Firefly models move to public beta, targeting consistency concerns
Adobe is releasing custom Firefly models to public beta, letting creatives train generative AI on their own visual styles. The models preserve specific details-stroke weight, color palette, lighting-across generated images, addressing a core frustration with AI tools: unpredictable output.
Brands and creative professionals have long hesitated to adopt generative AI because results vary wildly. Custom models solve this by learning from examples you provide, then generating new work that maintains your aesthetic.
What custom models do
Once trained, a custom model generates images and content aligned to your brand or style. Adobe says the approach works especially well for illustration styles, character designs, and photographic approaches where visual consistency matters.
The models are private by default. Content created with them stays yours alone-Adobe doesn't use it to train other models or systems.
Who's already using them
Adobe announced the feature in October. Several major brands, including Tapestry and Deloitte Digital, have tested custom models to scale branded content production.
For teams producing high volumes of work, the consistency becomes a competitive advantage. A creator's style functions as their signature. Building and maintaining that identity across campaigns, formats, and platforms typically requires years of intentional work.
What remains unclear
The real-world effectiveness of custom models is still being tested in public beta. Whether they deliver the consistency Adobe promises will determine whether creatives adopt them widely.
