1) What do students actually understand about AI companions?
Students often see AI companions as safe, judgment-free confidants. They don't always see the design: simulated empathy, engagement loops, and response patterns trained to feel personal.
- Instructional briefings: Short, repeatable lessons on how AI companions work, why they feel "real," and where they fail (empathy, judgment, accountability).
