AI Overuse Threatens Writing Skills, Warns National Librarian of Nigeria

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria, Chinwe Veronica, has raised concerns about the excessive use of Artificial Intelligence in learning. She pointed out that overreliance on AI tools could weaken fundamental writing skills among learners. Veronica shared these insights at the 9th Annual Conference for National Librarians, State Librarians, and Chairmen of State Public Library Boards held in Katsina.

The conference, organized in partnership with the Katsina state government, focused on the theme “Repositioning Nigerian Public Libraries: Innovation, Inclusivity, Empowerment and Partnership.” Veronica emphasized the importance of balancing new technology with traditional learning methods to preserve core literacy skills.
