AI-Driven Research: Faculty at Quantum University Embrace New Tools and Ethical Practices

5-Day Faculty Development Programme on “Research in the AI Age” Concludes at Quantum Varsity

Quantum University recently wrapped up a focused five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “Navigating Research in the AI Age: A Faculty-Centric Perspective”. The event aimed to equip faculty with practical AI literacy, research tools, and ethical guidelines to improve the quality and efficiency of academic research.

The inaugural session set the tone with Dr. Sana Zaidi introducing the programme, followed by distinguished academic leaders including Prof. (Dr) Vivek Kumar, Vice Chancellor, and other senior officials. Dr. Kumar emphasized that AI should be viewed as an aid to human intelligence, enhancing innovation and accuracy rather than replacing traditional research methods. He urged faculty to adapt responsibly in the evolving academic environment.

Day 1: AI’s Role in Research

Dr. Manish Srivastava highlighted the importance of ethical AI adoption and transparency in scholarly work. The first day featured Dr. Pushpendra Kumar Surya from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, who provided an overview of AI’s applications in research—from identifying problems and automating literature reviews to data analysis and maintaining ethical publishing standards. Real-world examples demonstrated how AI can ease tedious tasks without compromising integrity.

Day 2: Hands-on AI Research Tools

Dr. Surya led interactive sessions where faculty explored AI-powered tools like:

  • Zotero – for managing references and bibliographies
  • Scispace – for collaborative writing and AI-assisted formatting
  • Claude AI – to generate structured and context-aware research content
  • Jenni AI – for drafting, summarization, and idea expansion

Live demos and exercises helped participants integrate these tools while discussing responsible use to balance efficiency with originality.

Day 3: Bibliometric Analysis & Research Design

Dr. Pallavi Bhardwaj introduced Bibliometric Analysis, enabling faculty to map citation networks and research trends to identify gaps and boost their work’s visibility. Later, Dr. Vinay Pal Singh revisited essential research design concepts—including hypothesis formulation, variable classification, sampling, and data collection—reinforcing strong methodological foundations.

Day 4: Advanced AI Platforms and Statistical Tools

Dr. Ajay Kumar Chauhan, founder of Research Shiksha, presented advanced AI platforms such as:

  • Orange – for data mining and visualization
  • SciSpace – for enhanced literature review and writing assistance
  • Paperpal – to improve grammar, clarity, and academic tone

The highlight was hands-on training with SmartPLS 4 (PLS-SEM), where faculty applied statistical models, interpreted path coefficients, and evaluated model validity using real datasets.

Day 5: Practical Application and Reflection

The final day deepened practice in SmartPLS hypothesis testing and structural modeling. Faculty created and validated their own research models, discussing the implications. A reflective session encouraged sharing key takeaways and plans to integrate AI tools in future projects. Participants expressed renewed confidence in embracing AI responsibly.

The valedictory session, led by Rupali Khurana, summarized daily highlights. Appreciation was extended to Quantum University President Ajay Goyal, resource persons, and participants. Certificates were awarded to mark successful completion.

This programme underscores the growing importance of AI literacy for educators and researchers, helping them incorporate AI tools effectively and ethically. For those interested in expanding AI skills in research or development, exploring tailored courses and certifications can be a practical next step.
