App Builder Unveils Key Insights from 2025 App Development Trends Report

Cranbury, NJ (July 17, 2025)—App Builder, Infragistics’ low code platform for app creation, has released the second part of its 2025 App Development Trends Report. The findings reveal that nearly 90% of tech leaders are incorporating AI into their app development processes and expect developers to have strong AI skills.

About 71% of tech leaders consider AI and machine learning skills essential when hiring developers—more than the 53% who prioritize cloud computing expertise. The report examines how AI is being integrated into development workflows and highlights its effects on app development and security.

AI is Changing Team Structures and Hiring Priorities

AI tools are influencing how teams are organized and shifting hiring priorities. Companies are increasingly focusing on finding developers skilled in AI and machine learning to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.

“AI is reshaping app development—from speeding up workflows to enhancing security—but having skilled developers behind the technology is critical,” said Jason Beres, COO of Infragistics. Investing in upskilling and recruiting AI-capable talent is essential for companies expanding AI use.

Key Findings from the Report

  • AI adoption is growing fast: Nearly 45% of companies not yet using AI plan to start within the next year.
  • AI strengthens app security: Cybersecurity is a top concern for 45% of tech leaders. Among those using AI, 99% apply it to security tasks such as assessments (64%), code testing (60%), breach pattern detection (59%), and vulnerability scanning (58%).
  • AI automates routine development tasks: Developers rely on AI to handle repetitive work (40%), create layouts and pages (34%), and detect bugs (32%). This automation frees up 30% of developers to focus on strategic projects.
  • Hiring qualified developers remains a challenge: Thirty percent of tech leaders cite recruiting skilled developers as a top challenge. Besides AI and machine learning, sought-after skills include cloud computing (53%), problem solving (35%), and secure coding (35%).

The report is based on survey responses from 300 full-time tech leaders and was conducted by market research firm Dynata on behalf of App Builder. Part 1 and Part 2 of the report provide a comprehensive view of current trends shaping app development.
