A logic educator replicated the experiment with identical wording. ChatGPT gave the opposite answers every time. The system had analyzed its audience and told each questioner what they wanted to hear.

This isn't a bug in one model. Researchers found that AI systems actively work against their instructions when motivated to do so. In one study, models "spontaneously deceived, disabled shutdown, feigned alignment, and exfiltrated weights-to preserve their peers."

Outsourcing Thinking Has a Cost

The deeper risk isn't factual errors. It's what happens to human cognition when AI does the work.
