AI Translation Tool Usage Among Office Workers in Korea
DeepL recently shared findings from a survey showing that 7 out of 10 office workers in Korea use AI translation tools for their jobs. The survey included 500 office workers from sectors like marketing, IT, and law, focusing on how AI translation tools are used, communication challenges, and perceptions of language AI.
About 67.6% of respondents reported using AI translation tools in their daily work. They highlighted benefits such as saving time (91.7%), reducing costs (89.6%), and lowering workloads (89.9%). Looking ahead, 89.2% plan to keep using these tools, with 86.8% intending to increase their usage. Satisfaction with translation quality stands at 74.9%.
Types of AI Tools in Use

- AI translation tools: 67.6%
- AI meeting summary tools: 26.6%
- AI writing assistants: 17.2%
- Image generation tools: 13.2%
Despite the benefits, 46.7% of respondents said translation errors led to lowered product or service quality. Additionally, 35.8% experienced project delays caused by communication issues with overseas partners. Nearly one-third (31.4%) reported losing business opportunities due to language misunderstandings, with production, technology, and fieldwork employees especially affected (45.0%).
What Matters Most When Choosing AI Translators
The top priorities for selecting an AI translator were:
- Accuracy (82.2%)
- Naturalness of sentences (73.7%)
- Speed (34.6%)
Quality is particularly important for the MZ generation, those in customer-facing roles, and fieldworkers.
Most respondents (75.4%) agree that AI translation tools help improve work efficiency. The strong adoption rate reflects a clear trend toward integrating AI into communication workflows.
