At the Code w/ Claude event in San Francisco on May 22, 2025, Anthropic’s Jo Zhu Kennedy highlighted how startups are using advanced AI models to improve product-market fit and scale faster than ever. Founders from companies like Tempo Labs, Zencoder, Gamma App, Bito, Create, and Riffusion shared how Claude is central to accelerating innovation across diverse fields. These companies have seen growth from zero to multi-million users in just 12 months.

The presentations made it clear that AI is changing how software is designed, built, and refined. It’s making development more accessible and allowing non-technical roles to write and tweak code directly. For example, Tempo Labs offers an IDE that combines Figma’s design ease with VS Code’s coding power. Kevin Michael explained, “Tempo is a new type of IDE that feels more like a design tool like Figma than it does VS Code.” This approach lets product managers and designers act as “design engineers,” creating and modifying front-end code with Claude generating initial pull requests and even entire codebases.

Automating Routine Development Tasks

Andrew Filev from Zencoder emphasized AI’s ability to automate repetitive software development tasks. He predicts AI agents will handle 90% of routine tasks in the development lifecycle. Filev described the evolution from basic code completion (1st Gen) to advanced agents capable of unit testing, bug fixing, and custom code generation (2nd Gen). With Claude 3.5’s improved tools and environment support, usage has surged 10x to 100x in some companies. The next generation of agents aims for full lifecycle integration, including verification, code review, and deployment.

Boosting Quality with Enhanced Reasoning and Search

Jordan Garcia of Gamma App shared how upgrades in Claude’s reasoning and built-in web search improved their deck generation by 8%. Moving to Sonnet 3.7 with real-time web search boosted factual accuracy and cut down on complex prompt engineering. This small change had a big effect on output quality, showing the value of integrating up-to-date information into AI workflows.

Scaling Code Review with AI

The surge in AI-generated code volume creates challenges for traditional human code review. Amar Goel from Bito pointed out that manual reviews don’t scale with the expected 10x increase in AI-generated code. Bito’s AI-powered code review platform, built on Claude, delivers precise, human-like feedback. It focuses on “more signal, less noise” and detects subtle issues like incompatible class cast exceptions that often escape human reviewers. This has led to an 89% improvement in pull request merge times, with Bito providing about 80% of all review feedback within minutes.

AI-Powered Creativity in Music

Beyond software, AI is helping creative professionals too. Hayk Martiros of Riffusion showcased generative music models and Ghostwriter, an AI agent based on Claude that assists artists with writing and refining song lyrics. Ghostwriter avoids the common “cringe” outputs typical of general-purpose language models by focusing on diversity, humor, taste, flow, and flair tailored to specific musical contexts. It has been used tens of millions of times to craft lyrics, highlighting Claude’s adaptability across creative projects.

What This Means for Development Teams

The experiences shared by these founders clearly show Claude’s role in reshaping product development. It empowers non-technical team members to contribute code, automates complex and repetitive workflows, and improves output quality through better reasoning and context awareness. Startups leveraging Claude are moving faster and innovating more effectively, proving that AI-first approaches can deliver real results.

For IT professionals and developers looking to stay current, exploring AI tools like Claude and learning how to integrate them into your workflows is essential. Training and upskilling in AI-driven development can accelerate your team's productivity and product quality.
