AIIMS Jammu to establish Global Centre for AI in Healthcare
Jammu, December 28, 2025 - AIIMS Jammu will set up a Global Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare to enhance patient care, research, and medical education. Executive Director and CEO Prof (Dr) Shakti Gupta shared the plan during the institute's annual media interaction.
The centre will focus on practical clinical use cases, research partnerships, and workforce training. The aim is clear: better decisions at the bedside, faster diagnostics, and scalable teaching and research infrastructure.
Why this matters for healthcare teams
AIIMS Jammu is already operating at scale, with 1,400-1,600 daily patient visits from 28 states and 60-80 daily emergency cases. Cardiac surgeries are set to start as a regular service, adding depth to critical care pathways.
Over the past year, the institute has operationalised multiple super specialty departments, creating a strong foundation for AI-supported clinical workflows and data-driven research.

Innovation and advanced care
AIIMS Jammu houses the country's only Centre for Advanced Genomics and Precision Medicine among all AIIMS, enabling high-end genomic testing within India. This capability supports precision diagnostics, rare disease workups, and oncology care planning.
The expanding Oncology Unit provides chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy-bringing comprehensive cancer care under one roof. An advanced biochemistry laboratory with waterless dry chemistry technology supports high-volume, fast, and accurate diagnostics.
Patient experience is improving through practical tools: the AIIMS Indoor Navigation App, Patient Care Manager and Rogi Sahayak Mitra system, Parikrama Seva e-carts, the Swasthya App, and dedicated AYUSH screening.
