Ambience and Epic Integration Delivers Seamless AI Scribing and Documentation for Clinicians at Onvida Health

Ambience AI Now Integrated Seamlessly with Epic’s EHR at Onvida Health

Onvida Health and Ambience Healthcare have launched advanced ambient AI features directly inside Epic’s Hyperspace and Haiku applications. This integration allows Onvida clinicians to access Ambience’s chart summarization, ambient scribing, coding, and patient summary tools without leaving the Epic environment.

Expanding on their partnership from May 2025, Onvida clinicians can now initiate visit recordings through Haiku. Ambience then generates detailed, coding-aware documentation across more than 200 specialties and subspecialties. This approach cuts down on documentation workload while ensuring notes remain compliant and of high quality across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings.

Marc Chasin, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Onvida Health, said, “Our clinicians can now capture encounters seamlessly within their existing workflow while gaining access to the most advanced ambient documentation technology available.”

AI Features Supporting Care Before, During, and After Visits

Unlike single-purpose tools, Ambience is built with clinical workflows in mind. Onvida clinicians working within Epic now have access to AI capabilities in English, Spanish, and other languages, covering all care settings. Key features include:

  • Pre-visit Patient Recap: Analyzes the patient’s medical record to generate a comprehensive summary that helps clinicians prepare for appointments.
  • In-visit Ambient Scribing: Generates detailed, coding-aware documentation informed by the patient recap, covering over 200 specialties and subspecialties.
  • Patient Instructions: Provides customized, easy-to-understand after-visit summaries for patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Post-visit Coding Assistant: Suggests precise ICD-10 codes based on the encounter to support accurate billing and documentation.
  • HCC Compliance Validator: Reviews documentation in real time to flag issues with Hierarchical Condition Category (HCC) coding, helping clinicians address compliance before it affects revenue.

Nikhil Buduma, Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Ambience Healthcare, emphasized, “Health systems need AI solutions that fit naturally into clinicians’ workflows and specialties. This iteration of Ambience inside Epic delivers capabilities that support clinicians throughout the patient encounter.”
