Anthropic's enterprise adoption rate for its AI tools jumped to 30.6% in March, narrowing the gap with OpenAI to 4.6 percentage points. OpenAI holds 35.2% adoption, according to the Ramp AI Index released April 11.

The 6.3 percentage point monthly increase marks Anthropic's largest monthly gain on record. Three months ago, the adoption gap between the two companies stood at 20 percentage points.

Japanese consortium launches domestic AI developer

SoftBank Group, NEC, Honda, and Sony Group have established Nihon AI Foundation Model Development to build large-scale AI models. The company will develop AI with parameters in the trillions, with the stated goal of powering next-generation robots.

SoftBank and NEC will lead foundation model development. Sony and Honda plan to apply the resulting AI to automobiles, robotics, gaming, and semiconductors.

Additional Japanese companies including Nippon Steel, MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Mizuho Bank are participating as minority shareholders. A former SoftBank AI operations executive leads the company as president.

Japan trails the United States and China in AI development but holds advantages in physical AI applications, according to reporting on the initiative. The consortium aims to develop domestic AI capabilities and deploy them across industrial sectors.

For IT and development professionals, understanding Generative AI and LLM fundamentals is increasingly relevant as enterprise adoption accelerates. Claude training resources can help teams evaluate and implement these tools effectively.
