New AI tools to help governments move from pilots to practical results

At the World Governments Summit 2026 in the UAE, Apolitical announced two AI-powered tools to help public servants apply AI in real work, not just workshops: the Government AI Navigator and PolicyNova. Both are slated to launch later this year, supported by funding from Google.org.

Apolitical, the world's largest online network of government employees, builds tools, skills, and networks for public sector teams. The goal here is simple: speed up learning, reduce duplicated effort, and help teams take confident steps on AI.

"Government employees are being asked to solve harder problems with less time and rising complexity. These new tools are designed to meet them where they are - helping policymakers learn from each other, explore options with confidence, and move from AI curiosity to real-world impact. This is about supporting better decision-making, not just better technology," said Robyn Scott, CEO and co-founder of Apolitical.

Government AI Navigator: real cases, real peers

The Government AI Navigator is an interactive database of case studies on AI applications and policies from governments worldwide. It uses AI to surface relevant examples fast, and adds a social layer so officials can share, comment, and compare approaches.

Crucially, it connects you to the people behind each use case. That means direct conversations, lessons learned, and fewer blind spots when you adapt ideas to your context.

PolicyNova: early-stage policy research, made practical

PolicyNova supports policymakers at the front end of the policy cycle. It helps you see how similar challenges were handled elsewhere and visualize the impact of new interventions before you commit.

Think faster evidence scans, clearer options, and a more grounded starting point for drafting.

"Google.org is dedicated to ensuring the benefits of advanced technology reach all corners of society. By empowering policymakers with AI skills and tools, we can help them to deliver critical services more effectively and efficiently. We believe that these new tools will help governments around the world to accelerate innovation and scale proven solutions that will ultimately improve the lives of their constituents," said Rowan Barnett, director at Google.org.

Co-designed with and for government

Both tools will be built with input from public servants. Government employees and policymakers are invited to express interest and help shape features, use cases, and rollout.

Why this matters for your team

  • Faster discovery: find relevant case studies and people in minutes.
  • Stronger evidence: compare what worked elsewhere before drafting.
  • Lower risk: learn from lessons learned and avoid false starts.
  • Clearer impact: visualize outcomes to inform decisions and comms.

Quick way to get ready

  • Pick 2-3 priority problems where examples or early evidence would help.
  • Form a small working group (policy lead, service owner, data/IT, legal) to test on a live issue.
  • Set guardrails for data use, procurement, and ethics up front.
  • Run a 30-60 day sprint to evaluate value; decide to scale or stop.
