Aptech and Get Set Learn partner to launch generative AI filmmaking course

Aptech Limited and Get Set Learn (GSL) have partnered to launch a 100-hour Generative AI Filmmaking Programme, combining Aptech's training network with GSL's creative technology expertise. The course, announced on September 10, 2026, targets aspiring filmmakers and creative professionals who need to adapt as AI reshapes pre-production, production, and post-production workflows-a market projected to reach USD 4,490.7 million by 2033.

What the programme covers

The virtual and hybrid programme blends conceptual filmmaking sessions taught by Aptech faculty with AI filmmaking modules led by filmmakers, AI experts, and GSL's creative team. Students work through hands-on assignments, demonstrations, video tutorials, and a capstone project that culminates in an AI short film. Admissions require a creative assessment. Top performers may be considered for internships, and outstanding films could appear on Aptech and GSL platforms or be submitted to national and international AI film festivals.

The course will roll out in phases across Aptech's media and entertainment training brands, Arena Animation and MAAC. Delivery formats include classroom, online, and blended learning, drawing on Aptech's network of over 740 centres globally.

Industry mentorship built into the structure

GSL's creative team will train faculty, deliver select sessions as industry speakers, and mentor students through their capstone projects. The partnership reflects a deliberate effort to move students beyond tool operation. "By bringing industry perspectives, mentorship and project-based learning into the programme, we aim to help students move beyond simply using AI tools and develop the ability to use these technologies meaningfully in the creative process," said Ameet Zaveri, Co-founder and CEO of Get Set Learn.

Sandip Weling, Whole-time Director and Chief Business Officer of Global Retail at Aptech, added: "Generative AI is redefining the creative landscape and opening up new possibilities for how stories are imagined, developed and produced. Our collaboration with GSL brings together creative expertise, emerging technology and a strong learning ecosystem to give students an opportunity to understand and apply AI-powered filmmaking workflows in a practical, industry-oriented environment."

The market context

Dimension Market Research data cited in the announcement projects the global generative AI in movies market growing at a CAGR of 28.2% through 2033. Studios already embed AI across script ideation, storyboarding, visual effects, and automated editing. The shift creates demand for professionals who can combine creative storytelling with AI workflows-a gap this programme is designed to fill. For editors and post-production specialists looking to build those skills now, structured learning paths like AI for Video Editors offer complementary training on AI tools for post-production workflows.

Why this matters for creative professionals

Studios and production companies are not waiting. They are integrating generative AI into pipelines because it reduces production time and cost. A course built and delivered by industry practitioners-not just academics-gives working creatives a direct line to the workflows employers are adopting right now. The programme's capstone requirement also means graduates leave with a finished AI short film, which functions as a portfolio piece in a hiring market that increasingly values demonstrated ability over credentials. For those exploring the broader category, Generative Video resources cover AI video creation and editing techniques that align with the skills this course teaches.
